Responsibilities

Dartmouth Health’s Department of Radiology is seeking a full-time community practice (generalist) radiologist to join our Regional Radiology Division. Our regional radiology team covers hospitals over a two-state area, though each individual is primarily located at one site, so they have the opportunity to become fully engrained members of the hospital staff and are able to form roots in their local community. We have opportunities in a number of communities throughout New Hampshire and Vermont, including in northern Vermont near Stowe, southern Vermont near Massachusetts and a number of sites throughout New Hampshire and central Vermont.

Some of our regional sites are located near Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the system’s central clinical hub and Academic Medical Center, which is located in the beautiful Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont.  Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is located immediately adjacent to bustling college town of Hanover, NH. Hanover, home to the world-renowned Dartmouth College and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Dartmouth Health Radiology is home to a world-class Regional Radiology Section focused on delivering the full range of efficient, productive, and cutting-edge clinical care to small and medium sized community hospitals which are part of our growing network.

All full-time radiologists at Dartmouth Health are appointed as an Assistant, Associate, or full Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Faculty have access to the full academic and cultural resources of the health system, Dartmouth College, and the Geisel School of Medicine. We place a great emphasis on providing opportunities for professional growth.

Position Summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a full-time community practice (generalist) radiologist to join our Regional Radiology Division at the level of an Assistant, Associate, or (Full) Professor, depending on the level of experience. The regional radiology radiologists cover a broad range of diagnostic imaging studies, including ultrasounds, CT, MRIs, and X-rays. Of note, we are open to discussing opportunities for individuals who no longer read mammography, though many sites do have a mammography practice that is part of the daily work. The team also performs minor procedures, including joint injections, paracentesis/thoracentesis, and superficial biopsies. Our team participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, collaborates with other healthcare professionals, and engages in patient consultations to discuss imaging results and address concerns. We are a truly integral part of the care provided to patients throughout the region!

While our regional radiology practice covers sites outside of the main hub, the section fully participates in all of the positive benefits of being part of a larger system. System-wide software, protocols, templates and procedures are all shared between all sites so as a network we learn from each other and share best practices. All radiologists in the department participate in peer learning conferences and our quality initiatives. All department members enthusiastic participate in graduation, holiday celebrations, and our welcome events.

Dartmouth Radiology hosts multiple outstanding residencies, including in Diagnostic Radiology and an integrated DR/IR program. Regional radiologists participate in educating residents to a variable degree, mostly driven by personal interest. We are developing some programs in the regional sites for learners, so candidates have the option of working without trainees (which is the most common) or candidates could elect to participate in the programs we are developing. Regardless of the extent of active teaching or scholarly interests, all faculty are appointed in the Professor series at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Our top priority is always clinical excellence.

The Department values patient-centered care and a highly collaborative, respectful, caring, and engaging work environment. There is a strong working relationship with other Departments. Our faculty are encouraged to participate in national societies and organizations, if of interest.

The Department and Dartmouth Health

The selected candidate will join Dartmouth Health’s 60 attending radiologists. We are an internationally known Department with a deep history in the field, beginning with acquiring the first clinically x-ray in the United States in 1896. Since then, we have continued an upward trajectory growing in breadth and depth and expanding our services across New England.

While Dartmouth Health includes many hospitals and clinic sites, this position is based at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, our tertiary care central hub which also serves as the system’s Academic Medical Center. DHMC is the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and is home to a fleet of helicopter and ground-based medical transport services.

Dartmouth Health maintains a total of 802 beds, with 458 located at DHMC. Our extensive network handles over 3 million outpatient visits annually, supported by a dedicated team of 15,000 employees and more than 2,300 employed providers. Our commitment to the community is reflected in our contributions, with over $345 million in community benefits and $16 million in charity care. These numbers underscore our role as a leading healthcare provider, committed to both clinical excellence and community support.
