Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Outpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our neurology team. The APP will provide comprehensive care to patients with neurological conditions in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a passion for neurology, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Experience preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic tests and imaging.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions such as migraines, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and neuropathies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with neurologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Prescribe medications and therapies, and provide patient education on condition management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, including lumbar punctures, EMGs, and nerve conduction studies as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage side effects and complications of neurological treatments.
- Coordinate patient care with other specialties, primary care providers, and ancillary services to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Mentor and precept new Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), APP students, and medical students.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing education to stay current with best practices in neurology.
- Comply with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
- Participate in continuing education programs for professional growth and development.
- Advocate for patient rights, including privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic support to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and questions.
- Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest in neurology.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Maintain current licensure as an APRN or PA and DEA registration.
- Maintain a current Physician Delegation Agreement (PAs only).
- Maintain your national certification credentials
- Strong clinical skills with a focus on evidence-based practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
