Interventional Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (FT) Lebanon
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic is seeking an experienced advanced practitioner – Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse to join an established and collaborative group on the Interventional Cardiology team. The provider will perform diagnostic cardiac procedures and assist with interventional cardiac, peripheral vascular, and structural procedures and device placements. The provider will develop and coordinate the treatment plans and education of interventional cardiac, vascular, and structural patients in the hospital and outpatient settings. The provider will see patients and follow patients longitudinally in partnership with the interventional cardiology physician group. Additional responsibilities include inpatient consultations and follow-up of patients post-procedure, field phone and inbox messages related to patient care, and evaluation and management of patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
Core Privileges (Management):
• Determine, order and interpret appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies
• Develop and implement treatment plans based on relevant findings
• Obtain comprehensive or focused history and perform physical exam
• Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations
• Initiate admission/discharge of patients (Associate Providers do NOT have admitting privileges) and initiate referrals to other providers as necessary
Core Privileges Interventional Cardiology:
• Cardiology core privileges
• Assist/Perform diagnostic cardiac catheterizations under direct supervision
• Assist with interventional cardiac procedures and management of catheter-based devices with appropriate supervision
• Achieve vascular access, hemostasis and manage vascular access complications with supervision
• Manage cardiac tamponade including pericardiocentesis with direct supervision
• Point of care testing including but not limited to: ACT, ENOX, ABG, aspirin sensitivity, I-stat
• Assist In complex coronary, peripheral vascular, and structural heart procedures
This position functions as a primary provider in the care of patients in the interventional cardiac unit (ie, cardiac catheterization laboratories) under the direct supervision and support of an interventional cardiologist cardiologist and will also be regularly scheduled in the outpatient clinic. The provider will be available for urgent or add-on outpatients. Additionally, responsibilities include routine pre-catheterization 24-hour updates and consult notes daily, outpatient pre-cardiac catheterization chart review, entering appropriate orders, and coordinating of urgent catheterizations (e.g. positive stress test requiring urgent catheterization) and to the cardiac cath recovery unit (CRU) for management of complications.
The scope of practice also includes a teaching role and participation in quality improvement activities and clinical research. Responsibilities include STEMI/PCI scrub call as well as weekend/ holiday PCI outpatient discharges.
Requirements for Nurse Practitioners:
RN and APRN currently (or eligible) licensed in NH.
Successful completion of an approved NP program.
Master's level education required.
Requirements for Physician Assistants:
PA currently (or eligible) licensed in NH.
Successful completion of an approved PA program.
