Overview

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, a member hospital of Dartmouth Health, is seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in Hip Arthroplasty to join a team of established Orthopaedic Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.

Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
  • Post graduate training in residency and fellowship program

Responsibilities

  1. Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
  2. Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
  3. Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s).
  4. Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s).
  5. Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
  6. Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies.
  7. Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
  8. Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations.
  9. Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
  10. Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
  11. Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice.
  12. Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  13. Provide patient and family-centered care.
  14. Insure the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
  15. Supervise APP’s as directed.
  16. Participate in continuing medical education (CME).
  17. Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives   
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Current or eligible for Vermont Medical License
  • Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
  • Active hospital staff membership
