Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is seeking a collaborative and dynamic leader who can promote partnerships and communication across the medical staff, nursing staff, and all professionals within the organization and health system. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering the highest quality care and holding providers accountable to the policies and procedures that support this goal. A track record of accomplishing big goals and establishing critical trust within provider teams is vital.
About Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center:
Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is a critical access hospital in Windsor, Vermont founded in 1933 and winner of the Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service. Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center features 25 inpatient, medical-surgical beds and a renowned, 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. The Hospital has a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department as well as acute care, transitional care, and hospice. In addition to a primary care base in multiple locations, specialty services include dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, pain management, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, podiatry, rheumatology, urology, and others.

About the job:
Reporting in a matrix structure to the President and CEO of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center with matrix reporting to Chief Clinical Officer of Dartmouth Health, the CMO of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is responsible for ensuring high quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital. They will be a key member of the senior team, drive service line growth and innovation and partner with system clinical leaders to develop and sustain integrated and coordinated models of care and work closely with system leaders to foster high reliability in health care.
The CMO will partner with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer in a triad model to ensure all inpatient and outpatient departments are running efficiently and meeting targets. The CMO will, alongside other senior leaders, manage all physicians and advanced practice provider contracts and work to recruit new providers. The role also ensures that independent physicians and outreach clinics meet or exceed the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center’s standards of care.
Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates will possess an MD or DO degree and American Board Certification in their specialty. Candidates are encouraged to continue active clinical practice while in this role. An MBA, Medical Management certification, or similar training is preferred.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare leadership. Experience in a non-profit organization and critical access hospital environment is preferred.
