Academic Psychiatrist
Medical Director for Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Hampstead Hospital & Residential Treatment Facility – Hampstead, NH

The Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is seeking an Academic Inpatient Psychiatrist to join as Medical Director of Hampstead Hospital & Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF). HHRTF is a free-standing child and adolescent psychiatric hospital operated by Dartmouth-Hitchcock, with a co-located residential treatment facility.  It is located in beautiful northern New England.

The Medical Director role has three main components. First, the Medical Director has administrative oversight of the inpatient services and residential treatment facility.  This includes day to day clinical care management, supervision of clinical staff, and oversight of quality compliance and quality improvement initiatives. Second, the Medical Director provides direct clinical care to admitted patients as part of a multidisciplinary team model. Third, the Medical Director oversees the maintenance and development of the educational mission of the Department at HHRTF.  Hampstead’s current learners include psychiatric residents and APRN students, and there is a goal to expand our educational footprint.  The Medical Director serves on the HHRTF Executive Team.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled clinician, enthusiastic teacher, and inclusive leader with  strong interest and experience in Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.  Candidates must be board certified in Psychiatry. Academic rank at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Dartmouth Health is highly dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive group of faculty, staff, and trainees to meet the vast needs of our communities and patient populations. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with, and care for, individuals from all backgrounds.  This includes, but is not limited to, racial and ethnic minorities, individuals of diverse spiritual and political beliefs, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, individuals with disabilities, and/or individuals of variable socioeconomic statuses.
