Overview

The Division of Hematology in the Department of Medicine at the Dartmouth Cancer Center are inviting applications from highly qualified junior and/or midcareer physicians for the Hematology and Cellular Therapy Hospitalist Service at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

 

This is an opportunity to join a busy and growing practice as we look towards expansion in the hematologic and cellular therapy care provided at New Hampshire's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role is part of a team-based approach, inclusive of communication with case managers, social workers, and bed managers, ensuring appropriate patient-centered transitions of care. In addition to clinical care, the academic institution and collaboration with Geisel School of Medicine allows unique opportunities to engage in clinical and research programs, clinical trials research, cancer chemoprevention, clinical and basic pharmacology, novel cell therapy constructs, and participation in a broad range of teaching initiatives.

 

Both Internal Medicine Hospitalists with an interest in hematology and Hematologists with an interest in inpatient care will be considered for this position.

 

The Hematology and Cellular Therapy Hospitalist will serve as the attending physician for the inpatient hematology and cellular therapy service on alternating one-week blocks (7 days on / 7 days off) with additional sick call backup coverage. An alternative schedule may be considered. No night coverage is required.

 

A full-time hospitalist will provide 24 weeks of inpatient service per year, providing direct patient care (including admissions) as well as supervising and teaching advanced practice providers, fellows, and residents.

 

  • The hospitalist will directly oversee a team of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in providing high quality subspecialized and step-down level care for a complex and diverse patient population. No “first-call” responsibilities.
  • The hospitalist will complete all inpatient documentation and billing in a timely fashion.
  • The hospitalist will have clinical, academic, and teaching responsibilities to support their career development.
  • The hospitalist will closely collaborate with outpatient hematology team to maintain the highest quality care and patient safety during patient transitions and discharges.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have an M.D. or equivalent medical professional degree.
  • Candidate must be eligible to practice in the State of New Hampshire.
  • ABIM Certification in Internal Medicine and/or Hematology required.
